Cookie Policy
What cookies this website sets, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind at any time.
Last updated: 1 July 2026.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. On a return visit the browser hands it back, which lets the site recognise settings you have already chosen. Similar technologies — local storage, for instance — do much the same job, and this policy covers those too.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how Coastal Verge Hospitality Ltd handles personal information under the Privacy Act 2020.
2. Your choice
The first time you visit coastalverge.com you are asked to choose. You can Accept All, Reject All, or open Cookie Settings and turn each optional category on or off individually.
If you reject the optional categories, the site works exactly as it should. Nothing is withheld, no feature is degraded and you will not be asked again on every page.
Essential cookies cannot be switched off because without them the site cannot do the basic things you have asked it to do — such as remembering that you have already confirmed your age.
3. What we set
Essential — always on
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| cv_age_ok | Records that you have confirmed you are 20 or over, so the age notice is not shown on every page. Stored in your browser's local storage. | Until cleared |
| cv_cookie_consent | Records the cookie choice you made, so we do not ask again. Stored in your browser's local storage. | Until cleared |
Neither of these tells us who you are. They hold a yes-or-no answer and nothing else, and they never leave your browser.
Analytics — off unless you allow it
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _cv_stat_id | Distinguishes one visit from another so we can count visitors rather than page loads. | 13 months |
| _cv_stat_ses | Groups the pages viewed in one sitting into a single session. | 30 minutes |
We use this to see which pages people actually read and where they give up. IP addresses are truncated before storage and the reports we look at are aggregate: page, count, referrer. There is no attempt to identify an individual.
Marketing — off unless you allow it
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _cv_camp | Records which of our own campaigns brought you here, so we can tell which ones are worth repeating. | 90 days |
This measures our own advertising only. We do not run third-party advertising networks on this website, we do not set cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share this data with anyone for their own marketing.
4. Third-party content
Two things on this website are loaded from elsewhere:
- Google Fonts serves the two typefaces used across the site. Requesting a font file discloses your IP address to Google.
- OpenStreetMap provides the map on our Contact page. The map frame is loaded only on that page, and loading it discloses your IP address to the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
Neither is used by us to track you across other websites, and neither sets an advertising cookie. If you would rather not load the map at all, the same page gives our address and directions in plain text.
5. Changing your mind
Your choice is stored in your browser, so it is undone by clearing your browsing data for this site. In most browsers:
- Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies › See all site data and permissions.
- Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data › Manage Data.
- Safari — Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data.
- Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies.
Clearing the data for coastalverge.com resets both the cookie banner and the age confirmation, so you will be asked both questions again on your next visit.
You can also block cookies entirely in your browser settings. Doing so on this site means the age notice appears on every page you open, because we have nothing in which to record your answer.
6. Do Not Track
There is still no agreed standard for how a website should respond to a Do Not Track header. Rather than guess, we default every optional category to off and act only on the choice you make in the banner.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie we will update the tables above and change the date at the top of the page. Where a change adds a new category we will ask for your consent again.
